Matthew Whittle told us all about an "adult pantomime" coming to Exeter after acclaimed performances at The Wardrobe Theatre in Bristol.

Oedipuss in Boots is hitting Exeter's BikeShed Theatre for 3 nights in December.

"After a sold-out run at Bristol’s Wardrobe Theatre in 2012, Oedipuss In Boots and its all-male cast return with this new mother loving puntomime full of dark, twisted, adult humour, outrageous costumes, hilarious characters and far too much anthropomorphism for its own good. Featuring original music from Kid Carpet."

Exeter's BikeShed Theatre was launched in February 2010 when David Lockwood and Fin Irwin began to transform the run-down ex-Bamboo Gardens Restaurant into the exciting and vibrant space it is now.

Director David Lockwood introduced us to the new season at the theatre. On Sunday 1st September they launch into it with Spokes Amaze with an array of spoken word artists from throughout the UK. Pictures from Exeter Respect 2013 by Martin Hodge

Billy Bottle (keyboard and vocals), Viv Goodwin (flute), Martine Waltier (violin and vocals) and Roz Harding (alto-sax) expertly and exuberantly performed two songs for us, the second of which is an epic which will form the basis of their forthcoming album Unrecorded Beam in which Billy sets to music poetry by the inspirational American poet Henry David Thoreau.

The numbers played were
The Great They and
O Nature.

I for one found the performance by the band very powerful and we have had highly complimentary feedback from listeners too.
